Fred Matiang'i's Biography in Summary

Dr. Fred Okeengo Matiangi is the immediate past Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Interior and National Security Coordination. Before President Uhuru reshuffled his Cabinet, he was the Minister of Education. Many consider the no-nonsense Cabinet Secretary to be the president's right hand man because he has been by the president's side since he took office.

He was close with Karanja Kibicho under Uhuru's administration and were not liked by William Ruto at all.

Education

The public is unaware about the CS's early life or where he received his primary and secondary schooling. He did, however, earn a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the same institution. Matiangi holds a doctorate in communication from the University of Nairobi. He also holds a Master of Arts degree from the University of Nairobi.

He has formerly taught at Egerton University and the University of Nairobi. He has also previously worked as the Center for International Development's Eastern Africa Regional Representative.
