Jesus Of Tongaren (yesu Wa Tongaren Bungoma)'s Biography in Summary

Members of the New Jerusalem sect in Bungoma County's Lukhokwe village, Tongaren Constituency, are planning a large party to welcome 'God' in the compound of their leader, Jesus of Tongaren, later this month.
According to Jesus of Tongaren - whose official name is Mr Eliud Simiyu, according to nation.africa - God revealed to three of his sect members that He would be visiting 'Jerusalem' from February 24 to 26.

Members of the sect believe that Jesus of Tongaren's compound in Lukhokwe village is the Biblical Jerusalem - the city where Jesus Christ was raised as a child, preached the gospel, and performed a number of miracles.

The main motivator of this sect is visions or dreams; they claim that everything they do has been revealed to them by God through visions.

Each member, for example, is made aware of the design and color of the clothes they wear during worship.

"That is why the color and design of the clothes we wear during worship differ," explains Jesus of Tongaren.
Everyone here is referred to as an angel or a prophet(ess), and they are not allowed to use their given names.

Rachel is the one who makes the worship attire without the use of a sewing machine.

"God sent a dream to some of our church members in which I was appointed maker of worship attires," she says.

Rachel keeps a black book in which she records everything that happens in Jerusalem. She documents visions revealed to church members or their leaders, as well as the names and questions posed by journalists and the answers provided by Jesus of Tongaren.

The dreams and visions recorded in the black book will then be compiled into a new bible, Agano Jipya Safi (Pure New Testament).
When sect members visit Jerusalem, they must first go through a cleansing' hut to confess their sins.

According to Jesus of Tongaren, before entering God's temple, people must first repent of their sins.

Surprisingly, there is no water in the cleansing hut.

The sect celebrates three festivals each year: New Year's, July, and October. Each festival lasts three days and involves the slaughter of goats, sheep, and cows.

According to a neighbor, Mark Baraza Masinde, 52, Jesus of Tongaren invites many people, including neighbors, to these celebrations.

Women who are on their periods

Women on their periods wore black and sat in the back of the church. They are not permitted to stand, speak, or shake hands with other worshippers.

On Sunday, nine women were on their periods and went straight to their hut after the service to avoid interacting with other worshipers.
