Lady Justice Philomena Mbete Mwilu is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya with over 37 years experience in the legal profession and holds a Bachelor of Law from the University of Nairobi.

She operated as the chief Justice following the retirement of the RT Hon Justice David Maraga. She applied to become the president, however, Martha Koome succeeded. 

She was one of the seven supreme court judges that nullified Kenyan elections in 2017.
