Konshens, a Jamaican dancehall reggae musician, became an international sensation almost immediately after breaking onto the music industry with the hit tune "Pon Di Corner" in 2005. Konshens was a prolific solo artist and contributor to other artists' tracks throughout the 2010s, appearing on dozens of popular dancehall songs as well as releasing numerous full-length efforts, including 2018's party-ready It Feel Good.
Garfield Spence, Konshens' father, was born in Kingston in 1985. Early on, he looked to Beres Hammond as his primary musical influence, and he developed a strong and confident yet smooth and melodious singing style. He began making music alongside his brother Delmark Spence as part of the duet Sojah (Delus). Their single "Pon Di Corner" went to number one in Japan, resulting in a lengthy tour of the country, which was Konshens' first live performance. After completing another tour and releasing the Japan-only Sons of Jah CD, the team chose to embark on solo material. Konshens began recording dancehall singles such as "Winner," "Rasta Imposter," and "Insanity."
Konshens has a daughter called Sajhi Spence.
