Livingstone Etse Satekla (born 1988), a Ghanaian afropop, dancehall, and reggae artist and CEO of Burniton Music Group, performs under the stage name Stonebwoy. He won Artist of the Year at the 2015 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
He is widely regarded as one of Ghana's top Reggae and Dancehall artists. Satekla was born in Ashaiman and began making music in his early school years. He attended Methodist Day Secondary School the same year as rapper Sarkodie, where he earned his High School Leaving Certificate.
He continued his tertiary education at the University of Professional Studies, graduating with a degree in Marketing in 2013. He started performing as Stonebwoy in high school as an underground rapper.
He appeared in a popular rap competition called "Kasahare Level" on Adom FM, which featured Sarkodie, Dr Cryme, and others, and knocked out several other rappers, gaining underground popularity.
These rap battles and his musical style drew Samini's attention, prompting him to sign with his "Samini Music" record label. Stonebwoy recorded his first hit single "Climax" with Samini and later "Ghetto Love" with Irene Logan under the label "Samini Music". Both songs earned him nominations for the Ghana Music Award.
Following this exposure, he released his debut album "Grade 1 Album" under his Burniton Music Group label, making Stonebwoy a household name in the music industry. Recognition and Musical Style Stonebwoy frequently ragga in Jamaican Patois (Patwa or Patwah), and is considered a "multifaceted rapper" because of the various musical styles he possesses.
In 2015, he received numerous awards and nominations, including "Artist of the Year" and "Album of the Year." His sophomore album, Necessary Evil, received three Ghana Music Awards from six nominations.
